Dysautonomia Awareness Month 2021

Tip: Halloween 2021 Coupons: Halloween 2021 Halloween Deals & Coupons 2021

Dysautonomia is a term that you may never have heard about before, and that’s why Dysautonomia Awareness Month is so important! The purpose of this occasion is to increase the support that people with this condition receive in their communities, as well as lowering diagnostic delays. Read on to discover more about Dysautonomia Awareness Month and why it is so important.

Dysautonomia is a term that is used to describe a number of different conditions that have an impact on the autonomic nervous symptom. It can come in many different forms, yet the key here is that the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is impacted. The ANS is imperative because it plays a number of key roles, including moderating the heart rate, keeping blood pressure steady, regulating breathing patterns, and maintaining a constant internal temperature. It is also involved in excretion, sexual arousal, and pupil dilation.

Fast Facts About Dysautonomia

  • There is no single treatment that can address all Dysautonomias.
  • The most common sort of Dysautonomias is neurocardiogenic syncope, which results in fainting. Millions of people around the world are impacted by this.
  • Primary Dysautonomia tends to be due to a degenerative disease or it is inherited.
  • Secondary Dysautonomias typically happen because of another injury or condition.
  • There are approximately 15 different types of Dysautonomia.

History Of Dysautonomia Awareness Month

The first Dysautonomia Awareness Month was launched in October, 2012 by Dysautonomia International. Since then, more than 1,250 awareness activities have taken place all over the world. The color turquoise has been attributed to the month, and so one way that a lot of people show their support for dysautonomia is by wearing a turquoise ribbon on their clothing throughout October. This is also a great way to raise awareness because you can be sure that a lot of people will ask you why you are wearing such a ribbon, and this will give you the opportunity to explain that it is to raise awareness for dysautonomia and why this is important.

Observing Dysautonomia Awareness Month

There are a number of different ways that you can observe Dysautonomia Awareness month. For example, why not host a fundraising benefit? There are plenty of different ways that you can raise money and get lots of people involved. A classic bake sale never fails! After all, who doesn’t love a good slice of cake? From 5k runs and walks to yoga classes in your local park; the list is endless. All you need is something fun that plenty of people can get involved in. You then have the perfect recipe for raising awareness and donations! If you want to do something on a smaller scale, amongst family and friends, you can do a fundraising dinner or cook-off. You don’t have to do something on a community scale. We know that this is a massive undertaking, and every little bit definitely helps!

Here are some simple fundraising tips that can help you with this…

  • Put together a list of potential donors, from co-workers to your friends and family members.
  • Set a goal for your fundraising and continue to work toward it, and raise it. Whenever you are getting close, raise your goal some more. This will inspire you to keep working hard and achieving.
  • Rather than sending emails, send handwritten letters first for a personal touch.
  • Remember your inspiration – Dysautonomia.
  • Use online fundraising tools to help you. There are some great tools out there that are going to help you to manage your fundraising efforts more effectively.
  • Make it personal. People will donate because you are the one that is asking them to do so. Therefore, communicate your passion to people. This is a vital part of your fundraising success.
  • You also need to make sure that you follow-up. It is common for a lot of people to put things off. Rather than simply ignoring you, they have probably got busy, as they have a lot of responsibilities on their plate. A simple reminder can make a massive difference.
  • Send Thank You notes. It is important that people realize just how much you appreciate their efforts. Sending a note thanking someone for their donation and/or their effort can make them feel special and it will make them more inclined to help again in the future. After all, the effort to raise funds and awareness for Dysautonomia is a never-ending one.

It is also worth pointing out that there are many events that are going on around the world throughout October, many of which have been set up by Dysautonomia International, so it’s worth looking on their website to see if there are any in your area. This includes everything from educational courses to light celebrations, with some even starting at the end of September running right through until the start of November. Check these out every year to see if there is something going on near you!

Of course, there is no better way to observe Dysautonomia Awareness month than by raising some awareness. There are lots of different ways you can do this. Something as small as sharing some posts on Dysautonomia on your social media pages can make a massive difference. You will find lots of content and infographics online that can easily be shared with your friends and followers. This is a great way to get the message out and to spread the knowledge. You can also spend the day enhancing your own knowledge. There are lots of great resources online and books about the condition, so why not dedicate a portion of your day to reading these and finding out more about Dysautonomia?

As mentioned earlier, the color turquoise has become associated with this month, and you will find some great turquoise graphic downloads on the Dysautonomia International website. You can download these graphics for use on your website or social media profiles. You can also print them off and place them around the office, for example. It is an easy and effective way to spread the word.

Apple Day 2021

Tip: Stone Mountain Park promo codes: Stone Mountain Park October Coupons & Promo Codes 2021

Braeburn, Discovery, Red Jonagold, a million varieties with a million evocative names, and each one more delicious than the last. Every year the orchards spill forth a cavalcade of crimson, gold, and green, and it’s not just the leaves of Autumn. On the heels of this rolling bounty comes the rich smell of apple pies, spicy ciders both alcoholic and not, and all the tastes and smells of this seasonal treat.

History of Apple Day

Every year the UK gathers for a celebration of the most delicious harvest of the year and comes together to share the joy and fun of apples. Events range in size from minor to full-blown fairs in villages all over the country, where enthusiasts come together to share recipes for juice and cider, advice on how to properly grow their apples, and information on all the apple varieties available.

First made an official event in 1990 in Covent Garden, this event has been celebrated every year and has grown from a local event to one celebrated all over. It has grown from a simple celebration of the apple to a recognition of cultural and genetic diversity in food that should not be allowed to pass from the world.

How to Celebrate Apple Day

You can start your Apple Day celebration by gobbling down one of any number of delicious apple varieties, and checking out which Apple Day events are going on near your home. You can go and join in on the events and take in the unique varieties that grow in orchards near you.

You can also host an Apple Day event for you and your family, encouraging people to try new recipes and types of apples. Be sure to treat your guests with special ciders brewed at the nearby orchards, and apple-themed treats from nearby bakeries. The heart and soul of Apple Day are supporting the genetic diversity of Apple Orchards not being consumed by monoculture farming.

Another way to celebrate Apple Day is to participate in the Apple Wassail, a traditional form of this ancient practice often performed as part of an Apple Day celebration. As part of the practice, bread will be laid on the roots of trees which were then doused with cider. This practice was said to bless the trees and bring about good harvests.

Get out there and enjoy Apple Day, and relish the fruits of the season!

Listicles Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month 2021

5 Caffeine Facts That'll Keep You Awake

  1. Blame Brazil

This country exports more coffee than any other — almost 5.7 billion pounds each year, according to the International Coffee Organization. Brazil has been the world’s biggest exporter of coffee since the 1800s.

  2. The Finns are highly caffeinated

People in Finland drink more coffee than anybody on earth, consuming about 12 kilograms per person per year, according to the WorldAtlas. Norway comes in a distant second at 9.9.

  3. Withdrawal symptoms get serious

Those who experience symptoms of caffeine withdrawal commonly identify the following reactions as the most severe: headache, fatigue, drowsiness, depressed or irritable mood, and difficulty concentrating.

  4. Consume caffeine carefully

Although rare, people can and have overdosed and died from ingesting too much caffeine.

  5. You can be dependent, but maybe not addicted

Science finds that caffeine doesn't really fit into the category of truly addictive substances. "Caffeine has minor-league side effects compared with real addictive drugs," says Dr. Peter Martin, director of the Institute for Coffee Studies at Vanderbilt University.

Tip: Just Tires coupon codes: Just Tires $5 Off Your Order

We may not think of a caffeine addiction as being something from which we need to recover. But those of us who have tried to abstain from our morning (or midmorning or early afternoon) coffee or soda break know exactly what it’s like to try and kick the habit.

Caffeine is added to many of our favorite products, and it occurs naturally in many others. Often, one of the main reasons we love these products is because of the added kick of that ingredient, natural or otherwise. We can help you get a fix on caffeine addictions with this compendium of facts, figures and cool gifts in observance of Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month in October.

Listicles American Cheese Month 2021

5 Not-So-Cheesy American Cheese Facts

  1. The legalities of cheese

By law, American cheese is supposed to be made with at least two types of cheese. And it's color, yellow or white, depends on the types of cheese and milk products that are used to make it. Go figure!

  2. Want embalmed cheese with that?

Yikes! Many cheese critics wanted American cheese to be called embalmed cheese because sodium phosphate, an emulsifying agent, used in it was also used to preserve corpses. Today sodium phosphate is a commonly used emulsifying agent.

  3. Originally it was sold in tins

Originally American cheese was sold in the form of blocks packed in tins by Kraft.

  4. Don't call it "cheese," please

According to federal laws, it can never be sold as 'cheese' — but as 'processed cheese' — as it isn't made in the traditional way.

  5. How much cheese is in cheese?

Kraft American cheese slices have 51% cheese but that's not standard. How much cheese does your cheese have? Always read the ingredient list!

Tip: Simply Swim promo codes: Simply Swim 10% Off Entire Order - Exp ...

American cheese. It’s a slice of American life. Sure, it’s not your fancy cheesemonger’s cheese. But when you need cheese to melt to that perfectly gooey texture, you’ll ask all the fancy shmancy cheese to step aside. Only American cheese will do. It won’t overpower any dish with its complex taste — but it can enhance the natural flavors.

How does it do that, you ask? With humility! American cheese has a way of losing itself in the dish while adding texture. So, let’s celebrate our humble hero during American cheese Month in October. Be proud of your cheese!

Global Cat Day History

History of Global Cat Day

Global Cat Day confirms one thing — we have loved our cats since the beginning of time — or close to it.  In fact, the Ancient Egyptians were the first civilization to harness the glory of the feline. Nearly 4,000 years ago, they domesticated our four-legged friends by keeping them near food stores. (This helped control vermin and other pests.) Cats quickly earned a reputation as great hunters, and later, Egyptians worshipped them as gods. Nothing much has changed since the old days.

An advocacy group known as Alley Cat Allies, along with millions of supporters, will observe Global Cat Day with a commitment to save cats from being killed.

“The Global Cat Day Pledge includes the fundamental principle that all cats have the right to live their lives, and it guides everything we do to protect cats,” says Allies founder and president Becky Robinson. “We stand for humane, non-lethal programs for cats, and those who join us can take action to stop cats from being killed.”

Robinson’s asking everyone who values the lives of cats to sign the Alley Cat Allies’ Global Cat Day Pledge online.

The organization, which promotes humane treatment of all cats, reports that millions of cats and kittens are in life-threatening danger. That’s  because felines are killed more than any other animal in shelters across the nation.

Global Cat Day demands that community leaders abolish policies that result in the killing of cats; equip communities with lifesaving, humane policies like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR); and change any policies that threaten cats’ health and safety.

TNR is the mainstream approach in which cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, ear-tipped and returned to the outdoor homes where they live and thrive. As sound public policy, TNR reduces shelter intake, “euthanasia” and calls to animal services, which saves taxpayer dollars.

What is Global Cat Day

Global Cat Day, which takes place October 16, reminds us that educating, engaging, and empowering people to defend and protect cats is the right thing to do. They say dogs are man’s best friend. Perhaps, but it’s very likely cats are tied for first place in the informal and unscientific “Best Friend” category.

National Feral Cat Day History

History of National Feral Cat Day

The expansion of cats throughout the world is thought to have originated in Egypt. Traders and monks brought them to Europe and Asia to help control rat populations. Eventually, Roman armies brought them to Britain, and ever since cats continued to be introduced to new countries via sailors or settlers.

Though not traditionally considered pack animals, feral cats sometimes live in groups called colonies. These colonies don’t have an official system of dominance, but they have been observed to display different methods of hierarchies such as despotic, linear, and relative. There are also managed colonies, in which a human provides food, water, shelter, and health care for the cats.

Human leaders of cat colonies might also find potential foster homes, implement trap-neuter-return initiatives, and socialize the cats to get them ready for adoption. However, roughly half of the 146 million cats in the United States are feral or unowned. Considering nearly 70,000 kittens and puppies are born every day, there will never actually be enough homes to take in the number of feral cats. Though these apex predators are extremely adorable, they are actually considered harmful to the environment. In fact, conservation biologist say they are one of the worst invasive species on the planet. Which is why managed colonies implementing trap-and-neuter initiatives are so important, as they take on multiple cats at once: helping control the feral population as best as they can while keeping our furry neighbors healthy.
